Who Cares?
Professionally I work as a GP in South London and as I enter the 26th year of working at the same practice I felt it was time to start documenting the insights I have gained and the collective experience of my colleagues in trying to provide health and social care during this time. Personally I am now invested in this area because my parents and other relatives are becoming frail and have needed support and it is no exaggeration to say this has been a challenge.

Riddle me this
I have always loved mythology, especially Greek, and the riddle to be discussed was the one between King Oedipus and the Sphinx. Many people will know the Sphinx as the serene looking statue in Egypt near the Pyramids, but at the time of Oedipus, the Sphinx was a fierce creature half human/half lion which guarded the city of Thebes and would kill anyone who could not answer its riddle.

8.9.2022 was a date which will live on in history as it was when Queen Elizabeth the Second passed away after being the longest reigning monarch in UK history. Even though we knew this was going to happen the country’s security services and media had already prepared for this eventuality by coding it as Operation London Bridge which was put in to action whilst the national collectively grieved.
